I agree with Daniel. I think all colleges need professors like him. He's an interesting individual and Professors who actually make classes fun, even if they are a little different, make a class interesting. I don't think I know a college student who would take a boring, lecturing teacher over someone who will mix things up, keep it funny, and while still working hard to be the best you can be. I don't know if you listened to his whole interview, but he wants students to try their best and BE their best. Is that philosophy some how wrong now because he wears a cowboy hat, shades and is the way his is? yeah….that's what I thought too. Don't be disrespectful because he's not your average professor.

He is an excellent professor… I took his soc 400w class in fall 2008. If you haven't met him or taken one of his classes, then you don't know what you're talking about if you criticize him based on this video. The students who did take his class and hated it are most likely the kind of students that just want to be fed the material that they will be tested on so they can get the grade. They don't want to be challenged. He is smart, funny and very highly educated. He is also very funny and a cool person inside and outside of the classroom. He makes classical sociology theory fun and engages the students. I laughed when I watch this video because it reminds me of his humor. The man has style, class, and a great sense of humor. Anyway, keep it up, Doctor Stewart!!!!!!

I took his class and it was one of the hardest classes i ever had to take he had random pop quizes and his test were WOW…He is a very funnyyy professor and different as you can see in the video. He can be intimidating at times. Know your stuff because he does call you out in class. He is a really good professor if you like a challenge in your classes. Also Be prepared for a final 25 minute presentation at the ending of the course.

Actually – Dr. Stewart is a pretty well dressed professor. I'm not really certain how that pertains to his level of teaching though. Do you really think that wearing a suit and tie to class will make you a better professor? I worked in a bank for 7 years with people who wore suits every day and a great deal of them turned out to be morons. A suit may make a man LOOK smarter, but it doesn't actually make him THINK smarter.

We need more challenging coursework and enlightening thinkers to lead the way in this field. In the end, learning is really the most important outcome of attending college.

Also – I would say that the casual dress displayed in these segments relates to the fact that he was "interviewed" at spot coffee on chippewa and it is a pretty casual place. Why would you dress up on your day off while hanging out at a coffeehouse or cafe?

I only watched this guys rebuttal because I couldn't believe a professor would actually dress and act like that. As a college grad going back to school for my postgrad work and a father of two college students. I wouldn't pay for tuition at Buffalo State simply because they hired a clown, they should be ashamed to be an institute of higher learning. I hope you (Buffalo State) reads this.
