It’s a little silly that he believes that completion of grad school has anything to do with teaching ability. What an A**hole. I’m glad I didn’t have him for class. He’s so childish. Saying you have to have a Master’s Degree before you can critique his teaching skills. Our teacher’s send us a form to critique them in every class I’ve taken. How else are they to know if they’re good teachers without the feedback of the students they are teaching. He needs to G-G-G-GROW UP!!

Call him abrasive? Look at what he teaches. I LOVE this guy, he tells it like it is. I’m a T.A. and I know getting in front of class isn’t easy. A bunch of whiny freshmen being told they’re special all their life try to tell this guy he can’t teach? Professors laugh at these comments because they’re usually from people who did poorly in class and don’t want to do the work. He sounds like a no-nonsense type of guy and if you saw lazy teenagers who think they know it all talk **** about you, you’d be abrasive too! He’s exactly the type of professor I’d like to have.

Sir, you’re job is recognize that the people in your class are under educated, and for you to find a way to convey the information to them. Not smear that they done have a degree in their face.
The fact that you’re so defensive; so frazzled by these comments shows your insecurity. The fact that you stammer while your trying to project a retort shows that you haven’t comprehended and analyzed the comments. Basically- You didn’t think. You just got angry.
I couldn’t have a class with a professor who wasn’t at least mildly cerebral. You let your emotion control you. You verbally attack people and -It- -is- -despicable-. Be a man. Be a professional. A professional is what you should have been striving to be when you were earning your degree.

So he’s screwed up in the personality department. He’s probably fresh out of grad school and thinks he knows everything. Having an advanced degree does not mean you “know how to teach”. That being said, something about that agressive, New York/Boston (which is it?) accent…..RRRROWR! I’d take his class just to have him yell at me.
I bet he’s truly passionate about his job and is just sick of all the crybaby undergrads who expect to have their hand held while they work towards a degree.

I’m sorry, no, most professors do NOT go out and talk about this at happy hour. In fact, most professors have a life outside of the university/teaching – just like you, the students, have a life outside of being a student…albeit maybe it revolves around college at this time, that will pass.
As somebody who knows this man personally, your best bet is to find an alternative to this professor – yes, he is just as arrogant in person.

The second that people, especially students, start swallowing the backwash that is bias and prejudice in the name of education and never question every word and idea that inexperienced professors try to pollute their minds with, is a point in time when you can rest assured that you have raised your children to be mindless followers instead of conscientious, and intelligent leaders. And if you’re students, then you guys should definitely keep it up. I mean who needs intelligent people anyway these days? But really, people actually assume he’s a qualified teacher just because “they hired him”? Who are “they” exactly? Not the people who took your money I wonder..Or can it be that the “real” professors with experience in their field and in education are getting paid way more and are probably at a university where their services aren’t going to waste attempting the impossible: To try to teach something to some “girls in orange skin and bleached teeth”, juice heads, and some overfed suburban crackheads who still live with their parents at 26.

Wow, I don’t know the professor, but I honestly believe that it depends on the students. Honestly, I don’t take any of the rated comments serious. I had an English professor that taught me so much and because he was strict, people would rate him very harsh. This is college, not high school. Teachers don’t hand out easy grades because you kiss their ***, you literally have to work your butt off!! How about we be grateful that these professors want to help others with their education. I’m sure it gets old to have to deal with constant excuses as to why they didn’t show up to cl***, or.. oh my great, great grandmother p***ed away. WOW! He is angry… very angry professor. He brought himself down to the students' levels. Very shameful. He should put himself on a different level and speak professionally about his feelings. I wondered if he spoke like this during his job interview with this school? It doesn't matter if you have a Master's degree, you'll still behave like a child. Professor, keep it together! You can still get your point across without behaving like a child and perhaps you'll get some respect. I don't want to see some smoke coming out of his ear, nose, and maybe his throat soon. So, please do not get him angry. Please see a therapist or find a better way of dealing with negative criticism. Very sad

He seems proud – not the good kinda proud, but the macho-man egotistical proud. Obviously, he's insecure. To get upset over students' responses to the extent that he feels he need to convince them -the undergrad losers who can't recognize good vs bad teaching strategies- that he IS a good teacher and he's so much better than they are shows that he's not even satisfied with what he has gotten out of teaching. A good teacher considers his students' views in order to make his method more effective, and doesn't feel a need to be reassured by other teachers or to convince his students of all the stuff this guy touched on. Also, what was with the one upping thing? Did it make you feel good to tell all these 18-25 year olds that you make more than them? Did it make you happy to try to put them down, telling them that their comments, which you took as personal attacks, actually advanced your career? Good for you, but no one cares. You can't make up for being pompous by showing up your students with money. Everyone's critiquing your class- no one's trying to hurt you or compete- except for you. Get a hold of yourself. Once you change the amount necessary to convince yourself that you're a good teacher, you won't feel the need to convince your students. Odds are, you won't even need to. Till then, at least don't think so highly of yourself that you can't even accept a compliment.
