  1. zachT Says:

    oh no he dihdn’t!

  2. carrie1024 Says:

Yes he did. good for him. give it right back to those stoners. (cough) tough love is what our educational system needs more of. At least he cares if his students learn or not.

  3. govanator Says:

Is he for real? Can he say that?

  4. StonerX Says:

I wish more professors were like this educator. I have a feeling he doesn’t buy into protect the children’s ego and self confidence at all costs.

  5. Scarlet Says:

lol I love this guy! I agree with StonerX. Come on, the minute you step into college you have to realize it’s the real world, whining to your parents isn’t going to get anywhere.

  6. jayson Says:

agree with Scarlett, but still this dude is way more direct about it than any prof I ever had. I think teachers get jaded after years and years of students being whiny babies. GUy’s probably been dying to tell them to **** off for ever.

  7. Anna Says:

I wish there were more professors like this at my school.
Kids need to get over this notion that their professors are there to coddle them for four years straight.

  8. above is stupid Says:

the above person is just stupid. you are dumb and should sit alone in a corner thinking about all the many events in your life that have led up to you being this dumb. do not try to make communication with others because it is wrong to lower their IQ’s along with your own. even though you suffer from intense retardation you can at least refrain from being selfish as well.

  9. Shane Barber Says:

Awesome. This guy’s responses are the best of any.

  10. nicole Says:

hahaha. oh my god i love this guy!

dont worry buddy. i wouldnt hate you. but then again i cant draw for ****……

  11. Alec Campbell Says:

That’s the wonderful thing about the internet. You can be a *******, and form a ******* support group to root for you: Go *******es!

  12. K.R Says:

Wow! This guy is awesome, I would love to have a prof like this guy rather than the so many other profs I have that have their head up their ***! All I need is someone who is straight up with me, tells me what I need to know and what I need to do to succeed and I’m happy but there are so many profs who like to play stupid games.

  13. Ramon Raquello Says:

Actually, on the Internet, nobody knows your a dog, Alec.

  14. Impressed Says:

above is stupid made one of the best responses here. Nice way to crack on RockUr.

  15. meilysalas Says:

right on! i love that he tells his students their parents should have slapped them around! that’s exactly what’s wrong w/ kids today–they need to get slapped around!!!

  16. just saying Says:

I really liked that he read of some comments that he thought fairly represented him. He really does seem to put a lot of time and effort into teaching his students and sincerely wants them to do well. Nonetheless, I do not think professors should tell students off with a simple ** if they are offended by their comments, no matter how unjustified. His comment about slapping kids around is especially out of line. It does not exemplify how we think people should treat each other, that is, with dignity.

  17. Mark Says:

I like this guy he’s funny!

  18. tickledpink Says:

Ohhhh there really needs to be MORE professors like him. I certainly won’t let my students get away with **** when I become a professor in the future.

I can’t actually do well unless professors give me a good slap that this is the real world. Otherwise I just coast in their class or don’t care to show up. But that’s part of the problem of being at a smal school… everyone knows each other and it’s really recommended not to make enemies…. and students expect to be coddled.

I mean… I thought my advisor was too soft in general until I start working on my honors thesis with her. I almost wanted to cry after our third meeting… and now i’m a much better writer/historian because she got so direct.

  19. Anonymous Says:

    “well **** you” ftw

  20. Another Prof Says:

This Prof is on the money, he gives and he expects for it which is the way it should and must be.

  21. HB Says:

I would absolutely take his cl***. This guy is bad ***.

  22. Scott Says:

    hilarious.

  23. anime master Says:

He seems proud of being a grade A *******. I cant believe someone is paying him to do this.

  24. Jay Says:

    A little crude—dontcha think?

  25. SemiSeriousChloe Says:

Haha! I love this guy. I had a photography teacher who was a lot like this. Rock on!

  26. Steve Says:

LOL @ Scarlet. Honey. college is not “the real world”. I guess Mom isn’t there to wipe your ***, but c’mon. There is nothing real about it.

  27. JJ Says:

I would totally take this guy! I wish I had a teacher who would work with me at night or on the weekend. That is def a teacher who cares! Maybe he is tough, but look at what he is doing that he doesn’t need to do. I’ve had teachers who don’t bother to show up on time or be available for help- these are the teachers you need to be givin negative reports about. You are getting even more for your money with this guy! Plus, you can tel he is hilarious. The best teachers are the ones with attitudes.

  28. JJ Says:

oh, and to Steve. No offense, but for a lot of freshman, College is like “the real world.” The no longer have someone reminding them when stuff is due or telling them again and again how to do things, which is a lot like a job. Yeah, you can make college like one big party, but if you want to take it seriously and use it to really further yourself, you have that opportunity. College can whip you into shape if you realize you need it and you let it.

  29. Jennifer Says:

I think this guy is great! As a professor of both online and traditional classes, I understand what it means to bend over backwards and kiss one’s own **** for his or her students only to have the losers who won’t come to office hours, who won’t read the voluminous number of comments I write on their essays and use them to improve the next, and who seldom ever come to class write some piece o’ **** evaluation of what I do as my life’s love and labor. While I NEVER use profanity in the classroom, I can understand the frustration that some professors feel that may cause them to use such crude language. I don’t want to offend my students or be offended by their language in my classroom, but students will know when the feeling of walking a tenuous line when they get jobs and work their ****s off only to get a bad evaluation from a boss who misunderstands them and their efforts. The pain is even more intense if one loves what he or she does for a living.

  30. B Says:

    Lol this guy is ******

  31. B Says:

it blocked it out but its suppossed to say bada$$

  32. Kelly C Says:

Fantastic! His comments are dead on. Too many students treat college as if it is something owed them and forget that, in fact, it is truly a privilege to be able to learn from people who have mastered those disciplines. I am infuriated by students who won’t help themselves (yet expect the teacher to bend over backwards to help them), and then speak to the teacher as if he or she is their personal servant. Are you kidding?

And to those students who posted ridiculous comments: YOU want something from him–he needs nothing from you. There are not many teachers who will give you questions before the quiz or answer your email the night before. Most of them give you an F*** you by just giving you a pop quiz without warning. Grow up.

  33. Jenn Says:

“the above person is just stupid. you are dumb and should sit alone in a corner thinking about all the many events in your life that have led up to you being this dumb. do not try to make communication with others because it is wrong to lower their IQ’s along with your own. even though you suffer from intense retardation you can at least refrain from being selfish as well.”

    hahahha right on the moneyy
this prof is awesome, all those lazy *** fools who don’t work hard enough deserve to be told to **** off

  34. John Says:

I am slightly disturbed by the people commenting on this site that they “love” this guy’s responses. He is unprofessional, unethical, arrogant, and seems nearly insane. Most of his responses are not even logical rebuttals, they are merely personal insults hurled at no one. He points out that he receives a check from the city and “still” comes to teach — does he deserve a medal for doing his job? I thought Baruch was a quality school. Apparently they are only so on the surface. Below, they appear to have the same low standards you find in all the other CUNYs — a perfect reflection of a small percentage of rich people and a majority of uncivilized animals. I can’t believe he said “**** you” in the video to whichever student called him mean.

Listen, “kids”: the fact that you must “Grow up” when you come to college in no way justifies this guy’s attitude. I am amazed how anyone could draw such a lame-brained conclusion, much less defend this creep.

Someone must inform the music department of the Ombudsperson at Baruch, Ms. Freedman, about this unhinged imbecile.

  35. JJ Says:

John, why does it bother you that a teacher said “**** you”? I think most of us agree that we don’t mind if a teacher is crude as long as he can teach, and especially if his classes are interesting, which it seems as though this professor’s would be.

  36. RW Says:

    Totally understand his frustration.

  37. spanks Says:

i think you’re all dumb***** for saying how students should not be cuddled. what do you mean by that? life really shouldnt be about grades, it should be about the knowledge you gain and how you apply it. unfortunately thats not how it seems to be. if a teacher is cuddling you then he/she is obviously trying their best to help you. now this professor is totally not the cuddling type. in fact those of you who think he’s great to have and go **** yourselfs, this guy is not going to help you out neither in your grades nor your quest for knowledge. all in all i say ditto to the guy above me, John.

  38. Holly Says:

If there are people who think this guy is a bad professor, then they have never had a TRULY bad professor. Sorry.

P.S. Is it weird that this guy totally turns me on? I want to **** now. Hey I can say it. He did. =P Haha.

  39. newhere Says:

im not his student, but i LOVE this guy lol he’s got balls lol

  40. Genevieve Wagner Says:

He has alot of good points. People should want to be in those classes, and not whine when they realize they are going to have to work at this course. Not to mention, when alot of people rate, they don’t try to do it professionally; there might be a personality clash to they will rate the proff bad, even if it was a good proff. They rate on a person level, not professionally.
I think its great that he comes out and says those things.

  41. Bri Says:

I love this guys video responses.. funniest crap ever..

  42. Nat Says:

    I LOVE THIS GUY!!!!!! HE’S HILARIOUS!!!!! :-)

  43. Joe Says:

Students must have really pissed him off over the years.

  44. Keebler Says:

    This Professor’s comments Rock :)

  45. Chykityta Says:

LOL… that is all I can say about this professor. Seems like a cool person :D . Good luck to ya’ll taking him, but his response was hillarious.

  46. gatrdork Says:

Yeah, students shouldn’t be coddled and professors need to be able to actually talk to the students about their behaviour and not tip-toe around it. But this cursing and immaturity really doesn’t do anything to further the cause. If anything, I’d think that it would just put the student’s on the defensive and make them more belligerent.

  47. Sophie Says:

I would take his course, I think he makes a difference as a professor, but I don’t agree with his swearing. It doesnt matter how bad comments u get from ur students, u shouldnt swear.
But, as I said, I would take his course.

  48. Kristin Says:

One of the problems with college these days is that students will do whatever it takes to graduate with good grades. That’s why there are now policies on plagiarism and cheating; that is also why students tend to seek out the courses dubbed the “easy-A’s.” How many times have you been able to cram for exams, write mediocre papers, come to class late (if at all) and still receive an A? Well, when it comes to any of Tomasello’s classes the only way to guarantee yourself an “easy-A” is if you actually do the work. What I find unique about Professor Tomasello is that although at times he can come off as a touch arrogant, in actuality he is treating us as his equals, not downplaying our intellectual potential as the lowly students. Because of this he has high expectations for us all—that is one of the reasons for all the course work. He brings the concept of education back into the classroom because, believe it or not, we are students and isn’t the purpose of going to college to learn? If you are actually interested in the subject of music, and you are willing to dedicate the time and work hard, you will reap the rewards of the knowledge he has to offer as well as a sense of accomplishment and a well-deserved “easy-A.” If you can’t handle the hard work then good luck in the real world because it doesn’t get any easier.

  49. Javier Says:

Will someone please remind me why this insecure pseudo-professional’s use of the “F***” word should EITHER impress OR intimidate me? You DO get paid to teach, Tomasello, so quit your whining and get back to teaching. I can handle my students’ negative comments. Why can’t you? We’re all entitled to our opinions, even you… but where is YOUR self-restraint?

  50. anyway Says:

I had this guy for music. what an ***. when there was a piece playing he would have a ******* fit if you dropped your pen cap on the floor much less coughed or *gasp* talked. He’s a ******* washed up eric clapton wannabe. anywayyyyy

  51. George Says:

the kids that failed his class are probably ***hats………. look @ how much help he gives them on the chat/tells them whats on the quiz/tests. *** do you want?

  52. Max Says:

    Lmfao!!

    Ahh… ******* kudos to this professor lmao….

  53. Amazed Says:

Funny but not professional. I have never had this professor before so I can’t comment on his teaching but based on his comments, I can honestly say that I’m not so sure I would want to find out. I prefer to take classes from a teacher who can speak like a respectable adult. If he uses the type of language in his classroom as he uses on this site, then I don’t think I would want to pay to take his class regardless of his helpfulness or the easiness of the course.

  54. SG Says:

This guy is totally hilarious. I would love to have him as a prof. He takes music seriously.

  55. twilson Says:

Amazed, do you mean that someone has to be serious and professional 24×7 to be an educator? I don’t think I want to know that person let alone take classes from them!

  56. John Says:

Gotta love this professor. He seems like he really wants to help his students succeed. He seems to teach lower level course, so the students are probably a bit lazy, and like he said, perhaps they will thank him in after fours years. I think this professor would make a great comedian or an actor, he is simply great. He should think about a stand up comedy career when he retires. Enjoyed all the videos, and f*** all the lazy bums.

I am sure he has lot more students that admire him than dislike him, but usually the ones that dislike a person are the most outspoken, so I would encourage the professor to not take what he sees online too seriously, because students that admire him are probably not posting on RMP.

Advice to students, no matter how hard a subject or how difficult the professor, if you put in a reasonable effort, A is not impossible.

  57. Eric Says:

I am a Baruch Student. I never took his class thoug. I think this guy should be made the president of Baruch College in order to get rid of all the lazy, cheating, and stupid kids at Baruch College who get stoned in front of school everyday and then complain when they fail easy classes as music and theatre. Thumbs up for professor Tomasello. Keep up the good work

  58. bill Says:

You dont have to show up teach? Really, because im pretty sure you do or else yu will ge fired, *******. I have direct deposit too, mie is from the Federal Government; i also never see a check because they put the money directly into my account. but you wanna know something funny–if i stoped showing up because i felt like i didnt ‘have to.,’ I would get fired. Its called doing your job. Well what else can we expect from a pretentious music teach. Ha, you teah music? What exactly do you contribute to society, I mean besides getting-off on inulting students who think your teaching style needs improvement. They probably have to post their thoghts on Rate My Professor because they will berted if they try to talk to you durin office hours. You are a waste

  59. DJPL Says:

This guy is great. If I went to Baruch or however you spell it, I would so take this guy. Keep it strong Tomasello

  60. Appalled Says:

I’m more than a little dismayed at how this professor chooses to portray himself. Let’s just get the obvious out of the way: Cursing out students, via video, text or in person, is appalling. Not only is it unprofessional in dealing with students, but it’s neither intimidating nor endearing – in other words, your video failed in scaring them into being good students, while also alienating them from genuinely wanting to do well in your class. Furthermore, it makes you look lazy, as if delving into your vocabulary storehouse and giving logical, well-reasoned explanations is just too much effort. As for your direct deposit paycheck, you seem to forget that you receive it BECAUSE you teach, not the other way around. If you expect your students to put forth effort and be good students, then yes, you sure as heck had BETTER be a good professor who puts forth effort and is available to his students. To be any less is first-class hypocrisy. While I agree with Professor Tomasello’s position on students who get ***** and don’t do their work, his abrasive personality and delivery would make me want to study for his class last if I were taking classes at Baruch. To all who say you love this teacher based on these videos, are you assessing him in terms of reality show material, or professor material? Because I agree with the former – any producer would love to get this man on a reality show – but his conduct is out of place in the educator department. One final thing, as a question to Mr. Tomasello: Your final video (where you plead with students to not double-rate) pseudo-poignantly asserts “you’re hurting me” – but, let’s be honest here, after you told them “f*** you” seven videos prior, do you really think they care?

  61. Jasper Saint-Michel Says:

Consider the plethora of negative comments written about this foul-mouthed, shaggy charlatan, and the defensive, caustic way in which he attempts to rebut: a less than admirable picture of an educator has been painted. In a futile attempt to defend his position as a nurturing, caring educator, it’s sad to hear him state that, if he so desired, he could stay home rather than come to school to teach, and still collect his paychecks — this illegal alternative is a peculiar argument to demonstrate a caring professor! While I don’t think Andy is as course and seedy as he may seem to be, I do think that he reaps what he sows; for example, it’s difficult for a student to respect a professor who uses language that wouldn’t be allowed to air on TV. Additionally, I believe that his failure to establish appropriate boundaries (teaching on weekends, teaching from home, etc.) is counterproductive to the mutual respect that should exist in a functional student-teacher relationship. In summary, I believe that Andy’s heart is in the right place, but I don’t know where the **** his brain is….

  62. MarilynV Says:

I was just checking out this website and came across this professor. If there were more people like him in the world, life would be so much more interesting.

  63. Angie Says:

Shameful. Did professionalism in the workplace go out the window in colleges?? How in the world is it ok for professors to drop F-bombs in class?? I know we’re all adults here but a little respect is not too much to ask. He needs to take a page from his own book and practice a little self control.

  64. David Says:

This man tells it like it is. Bravo!

  65. hani Says:

    Good morning professor
I am Hani from Iraq studying master in geology in Baghdad University you know the situation in Iraq and I am can’t get (a new books and references) I hope from you to help me in some papers and books and idea in my project (sequence stratigraphy of mishrif formation in west qurnah and north Rumaila and Zubair field
I want some new idea in microfacies analysis and classification and environments and diagnosis of carbonates rocks
    Thank you for your help
    Hani Hassan flih

  66. D.A.W Says:

    I like his honesty.

  67. CHICAGO RAISED Says:

Screw you all, this guy was amazing. You be a teacher for a day, dealing with the swine of our youth who are all about themselves….GROW UP YOU LITTLE BRATS.

  68. Iwouldnevertakehisclass Says:

Terrible guy. Haha. He’s a joke.

  69. AnnoyedCompSciGradStudent Says:

This guy is awesome, as a graduate instructor I know exactly what he is talking about and why he is frustrated. In my experience 70% of students do not belong in college, and it is appalling that their high schools graduated them.

Dr. Tomasello is doing you bad students a favor. What is your degree worth if you have no work ethic, no reasoning ability and barely understand your chosen field? A BA or BS will not make you an expert, but certain things are expected from you if you have one. An employer is not going to put up with not showing up, showing up stoned, not understanding basic concepts, or doing half-assed work. They are going to fire you inside a month. This professor and everyone like him are doing you a favor by teaching you the subject and teaching you what it takes to succeed.

College is hard work, not an endless party. Grow up, do the work, or drop out and go flip burgers for the rest of your life.

  70. Jack Says:

This is sad. I can tell by listening to him that this is someone who really cares about his students and gets a bucket full of garbage in return. The professor cannot come to your dorm and drag you to class, you have to do the work! This is a guy who is being blamed for the laziness of students.

  71. Ilana Says:

OMG! This professor is hilarious! I bet he’s not bad in class–I’d take him just to hear him tell some kid to F’ off! He seems like he’s real..and well, seriously look at what he says here you know he’s straight up!

  72. 321 Says:

I would sympathize with this guy, except for one thing: he makes it seem like students should be grateful that he shows up. That’s his job. He shot himself in the foot by saying that.

  73. yusuf1 Says:

Oh my God, this prof is the most straight up prof ive ever seen, he speaks his mind, and teaches what he believes in, im tired of professors who are afraid of their students or dont assert their authority, college is for ADULTS and if you are still immature take an online class and take your ******** there. respect to the prof.

  74. Flaming_june Says:

    WELL LET’S F***ING TOAST TO THAT, MOTHERF*&%$#@!

  75. Student1 Says:

You dont have to be an ******* to teach a class, you have to find a way to connect with your students so that they enjoy being in ur class. We should not be threatened on our 1st day of class where we run out and drop classes like hot cakes. Teachers are people too, thats why i believe as our “mentors” for the semester they should be able to find a common language with the students not scare them with F’s. Hes rude and obnoxious, he may be on point but hes no better then us.

  76. rachel Says:

i would marry this man. in a nanosecond.

  77. Cassie Says:

I do agree with him to an extent….I just wish he was more diplomatic and less insulting… Hilarious!

  78. Carrie Says:

I like these videos, but do they have to be broken up into 30 sec segments? If I hear that intro music one more time, I’m going to slap someone. In other news… I love this man and I’ve never had him as a professor or met him. Students don’t need to be coddled, and that’s not what we’re paying our tuition for!

  79. Otis Says:

    >> Is he for real? Can he say that?< <

I would assume that whole “Freedom of Speech” thing falls for this guy as well.

He’s not in his class or saying it to someone at school, where there might be guidelines, so why should you give a flying F*CK either way ;)

  80. Bob Says:

He reminds me of a serial ******

  81. Instructor Says:
  82. Rob Says:

    Instructor say WHAT?

  83. John Says:

This man should not be allowed to teach. He’s a clueless moron that will never “get it.” Also, I happen to know for a fact that this professor has written most of the positive comments on this page.

  84. wow Says:

    John,

    You know for a fact?

How could you possibly know unless you are spying on him?

  85. Tony Says:

I agree with that last video.. it’s really easy for students to use different IPs and keep making bad reviews on a professor that they hate. kinda sad but it’s true.

  86. areyouserious?? Says:

“i think you’re all dumb***** for saying how students should not be cuddled. what do you mean by that? life really shouldnt be about grades, … in fact those of you who think he’s great to have and go **** yourselfs, this guy is not going to help you out neither in your grades nor your quest for knowledge. all in all i say ditto to the guy above me, John.”

are you serious??? like the world is going to cuddle you? your boss is really going to cuddle with you one day to make sure the slow guy gets it. yeah right. life isnt fair and it sure as heck doesnt cuddle. im sure all the big company CEOs cuddled with everyone to get where they are. no, im pretty sure they kicked a$$.

  87. Rusty Shackleford Says:

I have only had one professor that I wanted her to cuddle with me.

I think the term you people are looking for is ‘coddle’.

    Less MTV, more homework.

  88. Impressed Says:

Wow, I am sure the people here who love this guy are as p!$$ed off as I am that you bust your a$$ to get a degree, and watch a bunch of losers get handed a degree for “retain ability”. Come on folks if everyone has a degree what’s the point? I want my degree to mean something. College isn’t for everyone we need ditch diggers too.

  89. JustAGirl Says:

I wish I had a teacher like this – not afraid to speak his mind, and obviously passionate about what he does.

  90. Amy Says:

Lucky *******! I would love to have this guy as a teacher.

  92. michel Says:

This professor, seems like hes down to earth, i don’t think his trash talk is a problem, hes talking to us the students in our own terms, so that we understand his ******* reason. Just cause your a professor doesn’t mean you cant let people know how you feel. I know if i dealt with as much **** as it seems he has, id be cursing and swearing the students to just to whip their ***** in gear so they clue into a reality check.

kudos to you Prof. Tomasello, wish i had a teacher like you up here.

  93. Jessica Says:

Everything talking s h i t is probably mad because they didnt do what they should have. IF you ask me, he is a **** of a teacher. Not many give up all their PERSONAL time to make sure you get the material. Wake up!

  94. Chris Says:

All of you that have this guys back are WRONG. Good teachers dont have to be dicks, good teachers dont have to have attitudes. He IS A BAD PROFESSOR because he has a power trip he probably gets off to giving out F’s. This is why this website exist so we can filter out bad professors like this. I would end up hating art if my teacher acted like that and the only reason he acts like that is cuz he knows most of us have to take his class.

  95. NotUrBestStudent Says:

I am scared of this professor. I am going to my room to cry….wait….i am crying now he scared me…BWAAAAHHHH

You know what ? this professor needs a student like me, I d make his class hell, first, i will be nice to him and then i will post a picture of him naked right on the blackboard board discussion for everyone to see.

Professor i know we can be good friends…

  100. UniversalCrotchFusion Says:

This guy is straight up. Students today are lazy, self-entitled brats. Most of them could use a good “f*** you” every morning they wake up.

Not professional? Any moron can put on a face. You think someone is “professional” because they can be fake? “Professional” is a deep set of ethical values that, above all, includes dedication to the finished product. This man wants to teach students music and if they are coming out of his class knowing music with their hair blown back and a holy-batman-just-harpoon-f*****-me-in-the-face-with-knowledge expression, then he’s doing his job.

We’ve got so few teachers out there that actually take a stand for anything: too many unpassionate lemmings lurking the halls with two sacks of apathy and a dead-pan floor stare to much the established attitude. They won’t cuss at you. They don’t care enough to cuss. But that’s what some people on this board want to focus on? Are you f****** serious?

  101. UniversalCrotchFusion Says:

    much=match

  102. Stacy Says:

    wow, this guy is horrible.

  103. Susanna Says:

haha it’s Tomasello!! I had him freshman year as a professor, he’s awesome!

  104. AA Says:

    LOL NICE

  105. LatinaStudent Says:

I am in love already. I want to be his mistress…

  106. Alfonso Says:

This professor rocks! I'd take his class; he sounds organized and straight forward. A thumbs up and two snaps, to Professor Andrew Tomasello!

  107. john ho Says:

wow, we need a professor like him here. I know some professors that don't care at all and they're very easy to spot. They give "easy" exams that have nothing to do with anything you're learning or will every need in life.

  108. Debbie Says:

Dude, he's friggin' awesome! I want a dedicated prof like him!

  109. Joseph Says:

THis guy needs a life… WE are not all stoners… He looks like he hates his job, DONT COME TO CLASS DUDE… you wouldn't have a job if it weren't for students…

  110. Kaytee Says:

I think that this is what people need. Tough love.

I wish that I was at the school that he teaches at just so I could take one class with him. He's my kind of professor!

  111. ltell Says:

Hey, RockUrSox, would you tell me what the next winning lotto numbers will be, please? I could really use the money.

Just so you know, your juvenile, malicious comment says much more about you than it does Dr. Tomasello.

  112. sabingle Says:

Can I transfer to Baruch???? I am a non trad student. I wish all my profs were like him!!!

  113. Marla Says:

I like this commenter. I wish I could chat with you directly. You're cool and you give good advice.

  114. Kristin Says:

Non traditional student here too ~ would LOVE to have him as a professor! And would love to be his mistress, too. Maybe I should move to NY…

  115. J'lil Says:

I wish I had a prof like him!

  116. Jes Says:

lol, and he is a professor, eh!!

  117. andy31793 Says:

Wow… i JOINED this site just because of this Professor's comments…. hmmmmmm… I had originally thought about joining to see if my students HATE me or not, but considering so many students really, truly, DESPISE this person, I feel somehow not-at-liberty to join, under my own Free Will, so I have been trapped, if you will, even, into Joining this little Cult of Rating Professors……

Is this man really a music professor at all? Wow…. Look, dude, I hear what you're saying, but I would never say FUCK YOU to one of my students…. First of all…. I cannot believe you would say that to a student… That is Criminal, first of all.

Second of all, who the fuck are you telling a student that they know absolutely Nothing at all? That is sin number 2, imho…

I'm going to check and see, now, if I have any students on here… If not, I'm going to personally invite them to rate me…

Am i on a Holier than thou Diatribe? Well, frankly as somebody that went to school to be a professor myself, I think you're absolutely ridiculous. If I had been in your class I would have got you fucking arrested you asshole…

    No questions asked.

  119. Terri Says:

OMG,. This professor is so funny, straight-forward and seems cool!! Some students need to GROW UP and quit expecting teachers to hold your hand, read to you, and coddle you!!
Professor Andrew Tomasello, you seem like a cool laid back professor that actually expects your students to pay attention and do boring things like study…omg, how dare you expect that much from them?? LOL

  120. Adriana Dorr Says:

One thing he could control is the language.

  121. deanna Says:

i love tomasello he is the fucking man!!

  122. Melissa Says:

If it weren't for teachers like this would we really lean anything to make us "Successful" in our careers? We must actually learn & retain the material in all of our classes that we take through out our College EDUCATION. This means participating in lectures, asking in-depth & mature questions along with completing the assigned work…even though it may be inconvenient for you NOW. Being college educated is a necessity just to get interviewed in today's workplace, however a degree is useless unless your knowledge in your field is above "average". Once you get hired, your true colors show and if your not above average, you'll be one on the list of "lay-off's". (A nice term for being FIRED or not beneficial to the company). If you get lucky and dodge that pink slip, your chances of any future promotions are none. So pay attention and become EDUCATED while in college for your future success. The harder you work now, will pay off huge later. You'll be able to live the life that you've dreamed of…sooner than you can imagine. In addition, you'll be able to financially retire much sooner than the old age of 67!! Whew! (The current retirement age per the US Govt.)! That is what your up against if you don't take your college education serious. Besides as you age in your career, younger graduates will continue to join you and the less you know the faster they will bypass you in promotions, perhaps you'll be working for them! Something to think about!

  123. Melissa Says:

Your so immature, Holly. This is not the place to express your personal sexual desires. Get a grip, were adults here!

  124. peter Says:

Now that's a comeback. I love the intensity.

  125. Paul Says:

HE acts unprofessionally and tries to be "cool". He probably is a great teacher because he refuses to conform but he acts like a jerk…like House

  126. Paul Says:

    CODDLED

  127. John Says:

It seems that mostly all of the complaining whiners are snot nosed brats that are from 17 to 25. All I ever did was follow my Professors instructions, not use a cellphone in class, came to class, read the assignments and did well. The ones who did not do well are the ones who text during lectures, text after class, text while driving home and text before an exam.

    Just grow up.

  128. Tommy Andesello Says:

    F-you too, Spinach Chin!

  129. baruchmaven Says:

I had this Prof at Baruch, as did my sister. Though I received an A (as did she, just for the record) I do not believe this Professor is as awesome as you might assume from watching the video (as a person, f*** yeah, but not as a prof). The truth is he is unnecessarily condescending, and his TA's and extra learning hours are not actually helpful. Although it's not entirely his fault–for some reason this is a communication intensive course which means you have to write subscribed essays in less than five minutes, which basically means memorization and rote repetition. He knows his s***, and does give a 100% to his students, but in the end if you treat me like a stupid f***, and a lot of the learning opportunities are for morons, then what have I learned? To write an essay? To memorize and repeat definitions from the textbook on the test? This is College, not junior high.

  130. rvvann Says:

Anyone teaching in college should have a vocabulary large enough to deliver the same direct message without the use of foul language. Thumbs down.

  131. laura Says:

    i wish i had this professor !!!

  132. Bill Says:

I am instructor myself. Prof, this is 2009, don't even listen to these loser students. They are selfish, lazy good for nothing, no matter what you do, no respect, they don't respect themselves, their parents and they want everyting for free. Most of them will amount to nothing in life. It is a shame that we teach such poor quality students. Most of them are garbage…

  133. Omar Says:

haha he's just telling it like it is no bulls***

  134. heena Says:

i want him as my professor

  135. C Lee Says:

This guy seems unbelievably down to earth. I think that we need more professors like him. I don't like him because he seems like the funny professor, but I like him because he seems like the professor that would remember me 5 years after I graduate and would still be willing to slap me across the face with remarks on something bad I did once in his class. This is the kind of professor that makes people strive to be better than what they think they are. He seems like he is perfectly clear, understanding, and yet not scared to give you a little kick in the butt. Sometimes, people really need to be kicked before they start walking down the right path. This guy is totally prepared to give the proper kick and help along the path. If I could, I would have him as one of my professors. Granted, this site is AWESOME, but most professors don't care about this site. Rock on, Professor Tomasello! ROCK ON!

  136. tobi Says:

    Someone called him unhelpful???
zero of my teachers have a chatroom set up for quizzes.

  137. Dennis Says:

    Gotta love this guy!

  138. GGC student Says:

I wish I had a teacher like this in MY area!

  139. GLB Says:

I have a graduate degree, over the age of 50 and cannot believe what I am viewing! Are you a professor or just a jerk? I cannot believe what I am viewing. Good grief, what is your problem? You have a definite problem my "dear professor." Respect? You have respect for your students? I would not allow myself or my children or grandchildren to enter a classroom with a "professor" such as yourself…you my dear man are the problem with our educational system. Someone needs to examine your "paycheck system." You my dear do not need a check from the State of New York or any eductional system.

  140. GLB Says:

Jimmy…your language is strong…but this "music instructor" has a definite problem. The four year aspect is interesting…since I have a degree in biological science, a masters in psych and a doctoral student at the current time. i wish "never to treat another individual as this individual is treating his 'students' and expects a 'paycheck?" This guy has a problem…a sociopath or psychopath with delusional tendency. I, too am very frustrated to think that our tax dollar is paying this indivdiual to 'teach" me, my children or grandchildren.

  141. Kim Says:

    Cuddlecuddlecuddle

  142. Andy Says:

I don't quite understand the response from the community here. I don't see why he needed to get so sensitive over some comments and to start making random ignorant remarks about students. But I guess we can all rationalize his meanness and celebrate him as a hero.

  143. Brittany Says:

Do they have to an Intro EVERY TIME! "dun dun dun" *screech noise* *click* Every time??? really? not necessary.

  144. Laura L Says:

lmfo this teachers funny i wish we had ones like him at SDSU

  145. menlex9889 Says:

So im pretty sure this was more entertaining then any possible class, i wonder if the professors get paid to do these reactions! anyways this is very entertaining and he looks pretty insane!! Lets blame it on CUNY!

  146. hawaii Says:

HAAAA, this guy is awesome. He seems straightforward enough to me…If you're on his bad side, it's probably because you're a douche with memememe syndrome that's been coddled your whole life. I'd take his class if I went to that school. Most of my profs are too proper and it's irritating.

  147. LatinaStudent Says:

i think the problem here is not the students or him but the illegal immigrants…

  148. Robert F Says:

    This dude is awesome!

  149. Christian Says:

man this guy is straight-up, i wish there were more professors like him! students gotta get in line.

  150. Faye Says:

This guy's great! I'd take his class!

  151. Jeni Says:

This prof. is PUNX AS FUX!

Some of the best professors I've ever had have a very same attitude. I learned a lot from people like him, and always enjoyed the freak show.

  152. pat caboli Says:

taking Art in college? just go apply at Domino's now, dude…….

  153. Someone Says:

Man, realistic and straight up. I bet he's been holding in these feelings for eons.

  154. Michael Says:

Students want to be spoon fed and expect to learn without making any effort. Students need to take responsibility for their own learning.

  155. Theresa Says:

This guy is awesome! He reminds me of "Becker"!

  156. tom Says:

    what a douche!

  157. Ashley Says:

    This guy is fuckin’ legit.

  158. Bujin Tao Says:

love this site, BUT ENOUGH WITH THE ANNOYING LAME guitar hero Riffs for ***** SAKE!!!!

  159. Tmsllo isnt sadistic Says:

As a spectator, this mofo however tendentious, is funny as hell. At the same time, I know things would quickly get violent if he actually took that approach with me, so I have considerable empathy for his meek students!

Bahahaha, he fucking bombed on all of you.

  160. David Says:

I am so sick of professors who are concerned with hurting their student's feelings. That kind of mamby-pamby bull**** has no place in a college atmosphere. Professors are supposed to challenge your beliefs and make you think WHY you believe what you believe. Professor Tomasello sounds like he is a fantastic professor and I believe you will be a stronger person by successfully completing one of his classes. If you are looking for someone to stroke your ego or come down to your level, go see a therapist. If you want to learn and become a stronger person, take a class with someone like Prof. Tomasello

  161. Chan Says:

U dont keep much of ur education with u after u leave college. after u get a job u can settle 4 ur life is a set routine that has little to do with y u spend 20 years plus in school. Nurses/engineers/scientist etc only keep what they need the other 80% that u paid to learn does to waste.
Some people take studying to the extreme where a A- could lead to suicide. Others just waste money. The best thing is find a balance between work n pleasure, which crazy teachers don't allow even-though they themselves forget things n have to review it b4 teaching.
