Ratemyprofessor.com is a consumer site, where consumers get to write what they like or dislike about the product they are paying for…remember professors..we are paying the tuition..you are getting the paycheck GET OVER IT.
Besides…don’t you think the readers here can figure out which reviews are sour grapes and which ones are pointing out righteous complaints about particular teachers?
If a professor gets 100 reviews and a small handful saying spiteful things then only an idiot wouldn’t see through that. That idiot wouldn’t attend your class and you get a superior group of students in the process. It’s evolution playing itself on the Internet and in the classroom.
Look at it this way..throw away the worst and best comments and the truth lies in the middle.
You’re a professor and haven’t figured that out yet?
I had Prof. Bambach in 2005 (spring semester i believe). The first day of class i had my head leaned back on the wall and he made some type of off-color joke about me because he thought i was sleeping. At the end of class i made it a point to speak with him and let him know that i was not asleep and that i was paying attention to the entire lecture. After that we had no issues.
Prof. Sivaraman (sp?) also assisted in teaching the course for a few weeks, and i found her and Prof. Bambach to be highly intelligent teachers and learned alot from the class. College is not supposed to be easy – it’s not exactly high school, especially during the senior year when you’re about to enter the work force.
I think that the key with any of your professors is communication and also putting forth a legitimate effort in the class. UD is an accredited institution, they hire Faculty that know what they are doing. You’re not necessarily going to love every prof. that you have, but c’mon, wipe yr. tears.
Well, I did attend "Beauty School" in 1972 but now have a degree in biological science, a graduate degree in psych and now a doctoral student. So….your point is what? There are many that make up this country…Beauty School is one aspect. Possibly if your put more effort in assisting a "client" and yes we are "clients" as we are "paying for our education and our children's education." Respect…have a degree of respect!
What a Jerk! DO you feel like your class or degree makes you better than someone who has been to beauty school?? Guess who isn't in the unemployment line right now jerk off!

Would I be less likely to be “upbraided” at beauty school?

Pete,
You don’t pay for even half of the education that seems to be getting wasted.
