  2. ali Says:

hes even boring when hes striking back!

  3. Michael Says:

Here you go people: If you don’t like him on the first day, chances are you won’t like him in subsequent classes. CHANGE YOUR CLASS!

  4. Christina Says:

What did he say? That he was on time 99% of the time, but never late? And he never cancels class? What a brilliant finance professor he must be, he is so good with numbers AND words!

  5. Anna Says:

He’s a finance professor, after all. How interesting could he possibly be expected to be?

  6. Carrie Says:

I almost passed out just watching this clip!

  7. Kai Says:

I waited for the joke, but it seems he means this serious

  12. The Bard Says:

How entertaining is Finance to begin with?

  13. Akira Says:

    You very very booooooring.

  14. Jago Says:

Ali said “hes even boring when hes striking back!” LOL… I think Ali has a good point. I think that the professor’s attitude play an important role for the learning system. If this professor acts like this all the time, of course, students are going to get bored!… and this is not about the class, this is about the attitude of the professor. am I right!?

  15. S.E. Says:

Childish for making fun of his eyes or criticized his minor grammar error. How smart are you? Please post your picture.

  16. JoksRDum Says:

    “Hong killed my gpa !!”

No Matt, you killed your GPA

  17. Kel Says:

Okay, all these comments seem pretty stupid and wonder why the Education system here is the way it is. People want the easy way out of things. Entertainment in the classroom. Easy grades. What not. Grow up kids, adults, or whatever you think you are. I understand the “We are just being funny” part of this but honestly speaking, playtime is over. Get serious with yourselves and with your educations. Put ignorance behind you.

  18. Jago Says:

    Kel,
Please help me to put my ignorance behind! you seem to be a well educated person! you’re sooooo perfect!….It seems to me that someone got offended by Mike’s comment! I wonder who that is!? are you by any chance one of his relatives…

  20. bing bang boom Says:

wow you ppl are collage student its hard to tell

  21. Akira Says:

    Dear bing bang boom,

    What are “collage student” ppl?

    Is you “collage student”?

  22. Ramón Raquello Says:

A “collage student” is someone who adheres to Postmodern notions of self, a believer that one’s being is fundamentally fragmented, fluid, and situational. Some of the roots of these ideas lie in Erving Goffman’s seminal sociological work encompassing the idea of dramatic decoupage. I think Mr. bing bang boom is particularly astute in his assessment of this MTV-sponsored, cyber-pastiche of avatars as essentially being a collage. I do not think he himself am a “collage student,” however.

  23. empathetic Says:

I’m a college student, an older one albeit.
the collage students demonstrate an inability to detect sarcasm, lack of tact and foremost lack of imagination. this is an opinion board, however if you want to give your wrong opinion, come up with something better than suck your tiny.

  24. Christopher Watkins Says:

Does anyone else think he sounds like me?

  25. Rosa Says:

I read the comments. Wow. I feel bad for this professor, if this is what he has to put up with, omg. School is for learning (you would think that’s “obvious”). Making stupid ****** comments are so unecessary; the way his physical features look has nothing to do with how he teaches. I didn’t hear any accent either, and if he did or does have one, that’s irrelevant as well. There are people out there with accents who know more languages than others, and there are also quite a few are doctors of all sorts, and quite intelligent.

As someone else said, if you don’t like the teacher the first day, then leave, save yourself trouble whether it’s a hunch, a clash of personality, or whatever. And not everyone is into numbers and finance, some people may generally be more abstract thinkers and may enjoy other courses/classes that appear more abstract. There are certain people that actually enjoy numbers and theories of the such, because they like finding answers from A to B. So, it depends what kind of person you are, if you’re more abstract, you may find a class like that boring, sometimes it can be a teacher as well.

Although sometimes, a class may also be difficult depending on the teacher, some teachers try and make it easier, relate to students, give extra help, be understanding when appropriate, and make sure that all students understand what’s being taught, and then there are some teachers that are the total opposite of what I just said.

I’ve ran into some of these but I’ve also had some good ones, and sometimes it’s actually “NOT” the teacher, but the student (like someone who’s lazy, who thinks all should be handed to them, who isn’t there to learn, who’s there to goof around, doesn’t take this serious, is maybe just killing time, is not in the right mental state, is rude to the teacher and disrespects by nonchalantly and constantly coming in late). Some students take away from a good teacher, some take away from other students who are “actually” there to learn, and it takes away from a good learning experience, whether they’re distracting or expect to have standards being lowered.

I’m not saying that everyone should be taught at genius level, but rather taught at the level of that class to its fullest, and not be dumbed down for others. That’s actually what the school systems have done and people don’t even realize it, so when people go on to college, they expect the same, to be passed by lowering standards for everyone. That’s not what a good professor/teacher or school does. A good teacher goes against that and should expect better and the best from all who go in their classes. It depends on what kind of person this student/person is, there are good and bad ones, ones who know better, ones who don’t, and ones who choose to be better. If he was too hard and unreasonable, that’s a different story, but I don’t see anyone saying that. Sounds like a lot of whining and no real reason.

I’ve had teachers that are exceptional and a pleasure, and definitely glad I had them and wouldn’t ever change it for the world. I’ve had teachers that go against “just doing the minimum standard”, and I appreciate them for it, and there are quite a few out there that deal with bs from lazy people and don’t get any thanks for it. They don’t expect a thankyou, they just want to prepare that person the best they so they can actually go ready into the real work world, as opposed to being shocked and surprised, finding out that they know nothing or don’t know much, because they’ve been granted free passes.

There are some teachers who go beyond and go that extra mile. Yes, there are ones that don’t care, and you can see it, and they should never be teachers of any sort; there are some who are even ******, some who are prejudice, bias, or whatnot, and there are some who don’t understand some people and are inconsiderate of some people’s situations, but I’m also not saying that people should expect to have special treatment, or who just aren’t great teachers and don’t teach the subject well, but there are more good teachers out there than bad, that’s why they decided to be teachers in the first place. It’s about helping, teaching, and showing others, make better for themselves, giving them opportunities, and not many people say thankyou. So I’m sure this guy knows what kind of teacher he is hopefully, and you students know what kind of students you are. Thankyou to all the good teachers and professors out there!

  26. Akira Says:

    Rosa,

    You’re boring.

    You must be a prof.

    You’re stupid.

    You must be a moron.

  28. Joe Says:

    this forum is dumb

  29. lab Says:

    you have a silly hat

  30. Leech Says:

He seems to be a good professor, really, you’re paying for education, not entertainment. A prof can only have so much they can offer during a limited time, if you’re being majorly entertained, you might not be getting the most information you could (this includes extra stuff not in the textbook, which if valuable). My preference for a professor is probably someone like him. It seems like he knows his stuff and is willing to help if you need it.

A lot of profs are getting so pressured to make their classes “fun” that they make it lose some value. Really, if you can’t enjoy the course material then you shouldn’t be taking the class, I know sometimes that’s not possible, but you should learn to like your subjects (the learning material, not just the prof), it makes things much easier. My dad actually told me this a long time ago, and I never believed him, it’s true though.

  33. Student Says:

think the golden rule is, the more boring the subject, the more brilliant and entertaining the professor needs to be to compensate (sorry professors, but if you disagree with that or if you think it's not your job to keep your class awake by not being completely dull, maybe you shouldn't be professors).. this guy certainly seems to not fit the bill

  34. John Says:

I have had boring, outrageous, fun, entertaining classes, etc. I've probably had them all. There are pros and cons to all of them. More importantly, with that said, keep in mind that there is an expectation to study outside of class, per unit the class is worth. When I put in those hours (+) outside of lectures, I usually got the "A" or the grade that I desired . Whether you like the professor or not, show them what you've got by the effort you put in the class. They may mischaracterize you at first but let them know what you've got by presenting the hours of work you put in the class. They may actually change their opinion about you when they see you actually trying. It's very rare that a professor will give you the grade that you don't deserve.
